THINGS TO SEE & DO
Things
to see and do in Sooke, BC on Southern Vancouver Island.
Welcome
to our seaside community of Sooke, your year round adventure,
cultural and dining destination!
Sports-fishing
abounds in our area. In season, charter a boat and fish for
spring salmon, sockeye, coho or halibut. To book your fishing
adventure go to Sooke Sunny Shores Marina, situated in our
picturesque Sooke Harbour. Take a walk along Whiffen Spitt
and watch for seals and numerous waterfowl along the way.
Search the docks for multi-colored starfish and crabs as you
peer through the crystal clear water. Borrow a crab trap from
Eagle-Eye Wilderness Company and try your hand at crabbing
or shrimping from the Government Dock.
When
you have “caught the big one,” go on over to The
E-Fish-Ent. Fish Company situated next to Sunny Shores Marina
and have your fish canned, smoked and or packed. They will
ship your catch home for you, wherever that may be. If you
haven’t caught the big one, don’t despair, E-Fish-Ent
will have candied salmon, smoked packaged salmon and packaged
clam chowder for you to take with you or have shipped home.
Take time to drop in for lunch too!
Another
ocean adventure in Sooke includes ocean kayaking. Kayak through
scenic Coopers Cove, watch for seals and majestic bald eagles.
If your timing is right, join in on one of the moonlight paddles
offered during the summer months.
A
lovely family outing that the children are sure to remember
is a trek in lovely Roche Cove with Roche Cove Llamas. These
gorgeous animals and their owner will show you our scenic
forests and ocean shores. Lunch is included on these outings.
If
hiking on your own is more to your liking, then hike through
East Sooke Park, French Beach, China Beach, Mystic Beach and
many more beaches on the way to the world famous Juan de Fuca
Marine Trail and the West Coast Trail. Along the way watch
for migrating gray whales, humpback and Orca whales. A “must
see” just past Port Renfrew is Botanical Beach - a virtual
sea garden, teaming with sea life. Port Renfrew is a lovely
little coastal town overlooking the Straits of Juan de Fuca.
For the more adventuresome, ask your bed and breakfast hosts
for information about the sea lion caves. There’s also
a secret beach where fossils may be found!
Lunch
is available to you at many fine establishments in Sooke.
Before returning to your B&B, take time to visit one of
Sooke’s fine art galleries. Artisans abound in our area.

art. If you’ve ever wondered how felt was made, visit

and accessories. There are gnome knocker slippers, tea cozies
and coats such as were made for the New York Opera. The Sooke
Studio Tour has something for everyone!
